Frame Type and Mattress Size
Platform beds, slatted frames, upholstered beds and storage beds use different support systems. Confirm that the frame matches the mattress size and identify all rails, slats, center supports and headboard components before assembly. A missing center leg on a large frame can matter more than a decorative trim piece.
Rails, Slats and Center Support
Side rails should seat fully in brackets or fasteners before slats are installed. Center beams and legs need firm contact with the floor. If the frame uses flexible slats or closely spaced boards, follow the manufacturer pattern rather than improvising spacing.
Headboards, Footboards and Wall Clearance
A tall or heavy headboard changes how the bed is moved and positioned. Check outlet locations, baseboards and wall clearances before final placement. If the headboard is designed for wall mounting instead of frame attachment, that mounting becomes a separate substrate-and-anchor decision.
Drawers and Lift-Up Storage
Storage beds add drawer slides, lift mechanisms or hinged platforms. Those moving parts should operate without rubbing the frame before the mattress is placed. The floor should also be reasonably level so drawers do not drift or bind.
The broader furniture assembly page covers mixed furniture projects; this page stays focused on bed systems.
Before Assembly Day
Move the boxes to the final bedroom when possible and keep the mattress out of the working area until the frame is ready. Call NJ-GoodHome at (223) 226-1828 with the model, bed size and access details for assembly planning.
Within a bed & bed frame assembly request, assembly & installation and ab machine assembly stay separate paths when either issue expands beyond this page’s scope.
