Building Envelope and Air-Sealing Strategy
Walls, roofs, windows, doors and penetrations define the boundary between conditioned and outdoor space. Air leakage can occur at many joints and openings, so a project should consider the continuity of that boundary rather than only adding one product.
For the larger project-delivery context, see construction & design-build.
Insulation, Windows and Thermal Bridging
Insulation works within framed assemblies, while windows and doors interrupt those assemblies. Framing can also create thermal bridges that reduce the performance of nominal insulation levels. A coordinated project considers how these components meet.
Project-wide coordination may use construction management when envelope and system work occur across multiple trades.
HVAC/Mechanical Coordination Without Unsupported Performance Claims
Heating and cooling equipment should be considered in relation to the building load and distribution system. NJ-GoodHome does not claim HVAC design credentials, specific energy savings, equipment sizing results or rebate eligibility without appropriate project evidence.
In new construction, these questions can be incorporated early through custom home building / new construction.
Lighting, Controls and Efficient Equipment Planning
Lighting layout, controls and appliance/equipment selections can influence energy use and day-to-day operation. Visual planning through 3D design & visualization may help coordinate fixture locations, but technical specifications still control the actual installation.
New Construction vs Retrofit Opportunities
New construction can address envelope continuity from the beginning. Existing homes may focus on accessible improvements such as attic insulation, air sealing, windows or selected system upgrades. The highest-priority work depends on the actual building condition.
Energy Programs/Certifications We Cannot Claim Without Evidence
This page does not claim ENERGY STAR participation, Home Performance certification, tax-credit eligibility, utility rebates, HERS ratings or guaranteed percentage savings. Those statements require current program and project-specific evidence.
