Existing Fixture Replacement
A new fixture should be compatible with the existing box, support and voltage. Heavy chandeliers or pendants may need more support than a small flush fixture. Replacement is different from creating a new light location.
Mounting Box and Support
The electrical box should be secure and suitable for the fixture weight. Decorative ceiling medallions, sloped ceilings or unusual canopies can change mounting details. A loose box is an electrical/support issue, not something the fixture should be used to conceal.
Fixture Assembly and Height
Many fixtures arrive with separate arms, glass, chains or rods. Assemble them in the order that allows safe mounting and final leveling. Pendant and chandelier height should suit the room and furniture below.
Existing Wiring and Controls
Factory leads can connect at a suitable existing location as part of qualified scope, but new circuits or concealed wiring are not implied. Dimmer compatibility should be checked when the fixture uses LEDs or electronic drivers.
