Sheet, Glue-Down or Floating Product
Vinyl comes as sheet goods, glue-down planks/tiles and click-lock floating products. Each system handles seams, expansion and substrate imperfections differently. Product instructions should decide the installation method rather than assumptions based on appearance.
Damage and Repair Feasibility
A torn sheet section, loose glue-down plank and damaged click-lock board do not repair the same way. Replacement material availability and access from the nearest wall can determine whether a small repair is practical.
Moisture and Flatness
Concrete or lower-level floors may need moisture consideration, while floating floors rely on flatness even when they do not require adhesive. Broad base correction belongs under floor leveling.
Transitions and Fixed Cabinets
Door thresholds, stairs and connections to tile or hardwood should be planned so edges are protected and height changes are manageable. For LVP-specific primary scope, see Luxury Vinyl / LVP Flooring.

For vinyl flooring installation & repair, flooring remains the separate route when that adjacent need becomes the main customer task.
