Removal Method Depends on the Material
Small ceramic tile, large-format tile, stone, glass panels and glued decorative panels release differently. The goal is to remove the finish while controlling damage to the wall substrate and nearby countertop/cabinet surfaces.
Expect Some Wall Preparation
Thinset, mastic or adhesive can tear drywall paper or leave an uneven surface. Removal should be scoped separately from the repair/leveling needed before a new backsplash is installed. Do not promise the wall will be paint-ready immediately after demolition.
Protect Counters, Cabinets and Outlets
Countertop edges, cabinet bottoms and electrical devices sit close to the work. Power-related device removal should respect electrical scope boundaries. Dust/debris control depends on material and access.
New backsplash work belongs on Kitchen Backsplash Installation. Wall repair after removal may route to Drywall Repair.

For backsplash removal, kitchen remains the separate route when that adjacent need becomes the main customer task.
