Door Width and Wall Clearance
The door usually needs to overlap the opening for privacy and light control. The wall beside the opening must be long enough for the full door width, without switches, trim or furniture blocking travel. Measure before buying a track that cannot use its full length.
Track Support and Header Board
The hardware needs reliable fastening at the height specified by the kit. Stud locations may not line up with track holes, so some systems use a header board that spreads load and allows flexible bolt placement. Decorative drywall alone is not a structural support.
Floor, Baseboard and Door Bottom
The door should clear the floor and baseboard while staying close enough to the wall for the bottom guide to control swing. Thick casing around the opening can require spacers so rollers and door face clear the trim.
Rollers, Stops and Bottom Guide
Install roller hangers square to the door and set travel stops before the door can roll off the track. The bottom guide should keep the slab from swinging without binding normal movement.
For a door hidden inside a wall cavity, pocket door installation is a different project.
