Rod Width and Curtain Stack
The rod usually extends beyond the window so curtains can stack off the glass. Decide how much overlap is wanted before bracket holes are marked. Extra-wide windows may need a center support to prevent sag.
Bracket Height and Alignment
Use a consistent reference from the window or ceiling rather than relying on the floor, which may not be perfectly level. Across multiple windows, repeat the same visual height unless the openings themselves differ significantly.
Drywall, Studs and Masonry
Bracket fasteners should suit the actual wall. Heavy drapery or long rods can create leverage that small plastic anchors do not handle well. Masonry and plaster require different drilling and anchoring methods.
Double Rods and Specialty Tracks
Layered curtains, ceiling tracks or corner arrangements add more projection and alignment points. Verify that doors, shutters or furniture will not hit the finished treatment.
If the project uses blinds or shades rather than rods, window treatment installation covers that broader product family.

Within a curtain rod installation & hanging request, doors & windows and barn door installation stay separate paths when either issue expands beyond this page’s scope.
