Freestanding vs Attached Carport
A freestanding unit transfers load through its own posts and anchors. An attached carport also depends on the building connection, which can introduce structural and flashing requirements beyond ordinary kit assembly.
Vehicle and Site Clearance
Confirm width, length and clear height for the vehicles that will use the carport. Roof overhang, gutters, fences and property circulation can affect placement even when the footprint fits the driveway.
Base and Post Anchoring
Concrete slabs, footings and ground-anchor systems are product-specific. Existing concrete should be evaluated before drilling. New foundations or engineered connections are separate construction scope unless specifically included.
Frame and Roof Panels
Keep posts plumb and beams square before roof panels are fastened. Panel overlap and edge trim should follow the direction intended to shed water.
For a garage addition or enclosed vehicle space, use the primary garage additions page rather than a carport kit page.

Within a carport installation request, exterior & outdoor and canopy & outdoor shelter installation stay separate paths when either issue expands beyond this page’s scope.
