Board Installation Must Be Ready First
Loose panels, proud screws, broken edges and poor joint layout create finishing problems that compound cannot solve cleanly. New hanging belongs on Drywall Installation if panels still need to be installed or corrected.
Taped Joints and Corners
Paper/mesh treatment, inside corners and outside corner bead need consistent embedding and drying before wider coats. Rushing coats can trap moisture or create ridges that become obvious under paint.
Build the Surface in Wider Passes
Finishing usually progresses from filling/taping to wider feather coats and final sanding/touch-up. Lighting across the wall/ceiling helps reveal edges and surface defects before primer.
Repair vs Whole-Room Finishing
A few repaired seams are a different scope from finishing an entire newly boarded room. Wall/ceiling repair is covered under Drywall Repair and Ceiling Repair & Finishing.
