New Partition or Finish an Existing Wall
A new non-load-bearing partition may involve layout, framing, drywall and finishing. Finishing an existing wall may only require surface correction. Structural/load-bearing changes are not implied by this page and can require broader design/permit scope.
Doors, Electrical and Utilities Affect Layout
A wall can intersect outlets, switches, HVAC registers or plumbing. Those conditions should be identified before framing. New electrical/plumbing work is qualification-dependent and not automatically bundled.
Straight, Plumb and Ready for Finish
Framing geometry controls drywall and trim. Once board is installed, joints/corners need finishing before paint or wallpaper. Dedicated Drywall Finishing and Interior Painting pages cover those scopes in depth.
