Identify the Fireplace System First
Electric fireplaces, freestanding units, inserts and outdoor prefabricated fireplaces have different requirements. Some are furniture-like assemblies; others need wall openings, venting, combustible clearances or dedicated power. The exact manufacturer installation method determines where basic assembly ends and specialist trade work begins.
Opening, Support and Surround
For wall or insert products, measure the opening and confirm the supporting surface before trim is planned. Heavy surrounds or mantels may need framing support. Decorative finish should be coordinated after the unit position and required clearances are established.
Power, Fuel and Venting Boundaries
A plug-in electric unit is different from adding a new circuit. Gas connections and chimney/vent changes are qualification-dependent work and are not automatically included. Share those needs before scheduling so the project is not treated like a simple cabinet assembly.
For an open outdoor feature, see fire pit installation. Chimney condition and repair has its own chimney installation and repair scope.
What to Send

For fireplace assembly & installation, exterior & outdoor remains the separate route when that adjacent need becomes the main customer task.
