Structural Connections First
Swing beams, tower posts, platforms and ladders carry loads. Loose bolts, cracked wood or corrosion at these connections should be evaluated before cosmetic staining or replacing accessories.
Replace Wear Components Deliberately
Swings, chains, ropes, handholds and slides may use model-specific dimensions and mounting. Replacement components should be compatible with the structure rather than improvised from unrelated hardware.
Surface Restoration
Weathered wood may need cleaning/sanding before compatible exterior stain/sealer. Coating should not hide rot or deep splits. Severely deteriorated lumber may need replacement rather than finish.
