Match Step Height to the Entry
The total rise and the prefab unit’s riser dimensions determine whether the top step lands at a practical height below the threshold. A unit that is too short or tall can create an awkward final step even if it fits the footprint.
Base Must Be Stable
Prefab steps need a level, load-supporting surface. Pavers, slab, compacted base or other manufacturer-approved foundations should be evaluated for movement and drainage. Major concrete/foundation work is separate scope.
Handrails and Landing Space
Some units include rails; others require compatible accessories. The door should open without conflict and leave enough landing/approach space. Dedicated Handrail Installation may be relevant.
